New Tunesday – March 26, 2019

Pentatonix

The latest release from these superstars is just as captivating visually as it is musically.

The founder of Home Free released a full solo album “A New Day” in 2018 – here is the latest video from the album for the title track.

The Apex Singers

This brand new octet out of the UK kicked things off with a simple, yet beautiful live take of this traditional Irish tune.

Pitch, Please

This Temple University group competed in ICCA for the first time this year with a set entitled “There Will Be Better Days” earning fourth place at their quarterfinal at Drexel University.  Considered an LGBTQIA+ advocacy a cappella group, Pitch, Please was founded in 2014 with the mission to spread positivity, empowerment, and unity through music.

With one more live video for this week, we get to see a song from their performance at Boston Harmony Sweepstakes a few weeks back.

One Minute With: Bare Rhythm

The a cappella legacy at Calabasas High School in Southern California is strong and both their co-ed and all female groups routinely shine on stage. We enjoyed meeting with Bare Rhythm during the Los Angeles A Cappella Festival and wish them well for their performance at Carnegie Hall this weekend at Deke Sharon’s Total Vocal.

Here’s one minute with Bare Rhythm:

One Minute With: The House Jacks (Part 1)

The pioneers of the rock band without instruments are still paving the way. We caught up with them in Los Angeles where they returned to headline the 10th anniversary of the Los Angeles A Cappella Festival – a festival they helped bring to life when they headlined the very first one in 2009.

New Tunesday – March 19, 2019

Lots of gut-punching power in this week’s #NewTunesday….

Peter Hollens

Enlisting the talents of 200 young voices, Hollens’ latest YouTube is a stunning cover of Josh Groban’s “You Raise Me Up.”

Fundamentally Sound

There might be nothing better than joyfully poking fun at ourselves and A Cappella 101 does just that.

Fermata Town

This Boston-based CAL powerhouse took a Kelly Clarkson tune and turned it to 11.

Upper Structure

The relatively new but already award-winning Berklee group hits this powerful Todrick Hall cover out of the park with their first ever music video.

קוינטה וחצי Quinta and a Half

Who doesn’t need a little classic Bee Gees with their Tu(n)esday?

Kessay Chan

Even though you might not understand the lyrics depicting a deep but tumultuous love, you’ll still appreciate this music.

The Techtonics

One more #SmashHitSunday from the gentlemen of The Techtonics – this time with a little Jonas Brothers cover.

And finally – ARORA – whose performances together are now rare, surprised us with three new songs that sound like a perfect extension to their album, Bioluminescence. Run, don’t walk. Enjoy this gift.
