Predecessor to the EU, EuroZone became official. Queen Elizabeth mourned the passing of the Queen Mother and celebrated her Golden Jubilee, The Olympics came to Salt Lake City. Brazil won the FIFA World Cup. Switzerland finally joined the UN. The US officially established the Department of Homeland Security.

Friday Night Live – 2000 Harmony Sweepstakes

It was the peak of the dot-com bubble. The year we lost Peanuts and Charles Schultz. AOL bought up Time-Warner and Microsoft was penalized for an “oppressive thumb” on competitors. The Human Genome Project ruled the headlines. The Olympics lit up Sydney and the International Space Station welcomed its first resident crew.

And in a rare century leap year, Toxic Audio (now touring as Vox Audio) took home the title at the 2000 Harmony Sweepstakes!
