New Tunesday – November 20, 2018

In addition to all of the great variety of a cappella you can hear ’round the clock here at Acaville Radio, we’re going to bring you some bonus releases each Tuesday to make sure you’re finding all of the latest and greatest this talented community has to offer.

Here are our favorites this week:

DCappella

Things are certainly ramping up for this Disney-backed group – tour dates announced (you can open for them!), a brand new album, and lots of great press. Enjoy this live video of the group singing your favorite Jungle Book tune, “I Wan’na Be Like You.”

Home Free

Our favorite country a cappella super group is at it again with a new video, this time for “Some Girls Do” featuring newest member, Adam Chance, on lead.

Voctave

The Orlando-based group packed with star-power dropped a new Christmas video with “O Come All Ye Faithful” and it’s every bit as beautiful as you’d imagine it would be.

From The Roots

Deke Sharon caught  a behind the scenes moment with SING! Texas Headliners singing their original tune, “Fly.” Did you hear the live broadcast? No? Members will be able to listen in free right here at acaville.org on demand!

New DCappella Album PLUS a Chance to Open For The Tour

Things have been ramping up behind the scenes for well over a year in the halls of Disney Music (and the mind of Deke Sharon), as they prepared to launch the next great a cappella group.

The promotional tours are underway and US & Canada tour dates for 2019 have been announced, as well as teasers for their first album. The much anticipated first album from DCappella was released on all major music distributors today. Here’s a taste:

Not only that, but now YOU can also be a part of the magic!

DCappella - Take Us On Tour
DCappella – Take Us On Tour

Here’s how to get there:

Get an Instagram account (just kidding, we know you already have one!)

  1. Record your group LIVE. No studio magic here – just you, your group, and your beautiful natural voices. Phone video is fine – no one is judging your cinematography skills (but maybe film in landscape and use a tripod 😉 )
  2. Upload your video to Instagram. Tag it with:

#DCappella
#TakeUsOnTour
#[name of the city you want to perform in]

And hey, tag us, too – we LOVE good a cappella! (@Acavilleradio)

3. Share. Share. Share.

Submit your entry by December 15th and check your DMs – someone will reach out to you there if you make it through!

And while you’re at it….don’t forget to spread the word about the tour.

Techapella Returns October 15th

In 2013, the Silicon Valley tech world a cappella groups came together to create an informal, non-competitive concert to share their passion for music with the world.

This showcase-like event is a huge community builder for the ever-growing circle of tech-company based a cappella groups. With sold-out crowds, varied repertoires, and even the occasional beatbox battle, this event grows in popularity each year. So much so, that they recently expanded to two shows instead of just one.

San Francisco Bay Area fans will have two chances to see Techapella live this year, with the first show on October 15th at Fox Theatre and the second show on November 4th at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

The lineup for each show is different. On October 15th you’ll see:

Googapella and Alphabeat (both from Google)
The Vocal Network (Facebook)
The Keynotes (Apple)
InTune (LinkedIn)
Syncopation (Dropbox)
Funderstruck (an inter-company techie mix)
and the newest Techapella group The Chromotones (23andMe).

And on November 4th, Deke Sharon will emcee along with performances by:

Googapella (Google)
The Vocal Network (Facebook)
Songbirds (Twitter)
The Square Registers (Square)
The Pintunes (Pinterest)
Airbnbeats (Airbnb)
Scalesforce (Salesforce)
Internote (an inter-company a cappella group)

Acaville members will have access to the LIVE recording from October 15th!
